Since you called again
"Hello!" you said.
"Hi!!" I mustered courage
Unsure of what to say

And in inert silences
Nervous heart beats
Nostalgia had its way,
Unbreachable fences
History that was never to be revisited

No complains, no arguments,
No rapprochement
Just the cacophony of silence
There was nothing left to say
Just an intangible ache

In the absence of all meaning,
It was only small talk
